The Course

Created in collaboration with Happy Student Society, the Happiness Academy will provide you with the skills and knowledge from positive psychology to help you to understand what brings you happiness in the short and long term, to create your own definition of happiness and how to make it long-lasting.

Trainings will be hosted ON CAMPUS on Wednesdays at 18h30 starting on September 23rd.

Week 1: Introduction to happiness

Understand the biological processes behind happiness. You will create your own "draft" definition of happiness and identify your own sources and drainers in the scope of physical, emotional, mind, and spiritual happiness.

Week 2: Social Happiness

You will understand the connection between social interactional and happiness and apply strategies to utilize social sources of happiness. You will also learn how to create meaningful connections & conversations.

Week 3: Mental Happiness

You will perform a simple mindfulness exercise and reflect on your own happiness during the state of presence. You will learn how to apply gratefulness reflection to your daily schedule.

Week 4: Happiness in meaning of life

You will understand the connection between meaning and happiness and explore your own purpose in life. We will help you create a purpose mission statement.

Week 5: Dealing with unhappiness

You will learn how to apply strategies to deal with your own negative thoughts. You will reflect on societal expectation versus your own desires´╗┐.

Week 6: Create your own happiness

In the last session, you will reflect on your own "final" definition of happiness and create your own strategy and action plan for happiness.

Happiness is everywhere

Now more than ever it is a time to stop and understand what brings meaning and happiness to our lives and consciously apply proven strategies to elevate our own happiness.

You'll do just that with a small group of fellow students you'll explore the nature of happiness and how to cultivate it for yourself and people around you.


Nada Khaldi        

As a psychology student, Nada is drawn to all aspects of mental health and well-being, as well as to actively helping those in need.  Her psychology studies reinforced her desire to be an active member of society and to provide help to others, especially in terms of mental health. Having had psychological/emotional difficulties herself and living in a present where we are facing many challenges that impact our mental well being, she decided to join the Happy Student Society association as well as the Happiness Academy in hope to help as many students as she can.

Ella Goldfarb       

Ella is a Clinical Psychology student. She has a passion for mental health, wellbeing, and happiness! Her goal is to help people achieve, maintain, and strengthen their mental health. She has some past experience with teaching English and is looking forward to training you to use positive psychology in order to understand and attain happiness.

What you need to know


Participation in the course is free, however full participation will be required once you signed up and you are selected. (First session is mandatory).


You will see your trainer once a week, for 6 weeks. Besides the coaching session there is preparatory material that you will need to cover before hand.


We know that life happens. As long as you do not miss more than one training session and you deliver the final assignment, you will get one.


Small parts of some sessions might be recorded, or screenshots of the zoom calls might be taken for communication, education and/or marketing purposes.


Trainings are subject to change in format (online/offline) to adhere with the measures taken by the Dutch government and Erasmus University Rotterdam.


*Applications work on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, time slots will only open if a minimum of 8 students enroll.
