The Course

This course is created in collaboration with Risbo, a teacher training company within EUR holding and led by the founder of LifeVersity himself. In this course, you’ll explore the skills required to become an effective educator in non-curricular education and you’ll get to practice delivering training yourself.

Week 1: Role of the trainer

In this introductory session, you’ll get to know your group, trainer and explore what the role of the trainer is and how to design your own learning path to become one.

Week 2:How do we learn

In order to teach effectively, we first need to understand how humans learn. In this session, you’ll learn about neuroscience and the psychology of effective learning.

Week 3: Planning a training

In order to create an effective educational experience, planning is most crucial. In this week you'll explore how to conduct a need analysis and create learning goals for your training.

Week 4: Designing a training

In this session, we will explore how to create an effective lesson plan that stimulates active learning. Furthermore, you’ll learn how to create efficient learning materials, such as assignments, slides, and activities.

Week 5:Training delivery

Once your training is designed it’s time to deliver it! In this session, we will practice communication skills connected to effective teachings such as active listening, and non-verbal communication. Furthermore, we will discuss how to handle different groups of participants.

Week 6: Your workshop

During the last session, you will deliver your final mini-workshop. This will be your opportunity to apply all that you’ve learned and the workshop you’ve been building for the past 5 weeks into practice. The workshop will also be open to the public and LifeVersity students from other courses and you will receive detailed feedback on your performance.

Why is teaching an important skill?

Teaching others is one of the most useful skills that can help you in your future career. Where it is helping your friend with the school assignments, explaining tasks to your new colleague, or delivering workshops about your product, teaching is hidden in most of the professional activities. In this course, you will learn how to design and deliver an effective educational session.
