In this session, you will learn to center your body language (gestures, facial expression, movements, posture) and how to express it freely.

Week 3: How to manage your voice

Reflect on own use of voice and apply adequate vocal projection and vocal tools (pause, pitch, stress, volume, pace, emotions) to your own speech.

What did previous participants say?

Based on 70 students who completed both pre and post measurements, self-reported public speaking anxiety went down on average by 23.5% for each student that completed the course.

I think the course was very well structured, we practiced and got motivated. There was feedback to improve our skills and great examples. In a safe environment everyone could practice and learn from each other as well.

I loved working on improvisation, since it helped me to get out of my head, relax and enjoy the moment. I also loved the exercises outside, mindfulness and body exercises. It made us feel like we can think out of the box, yet be who we really are.

8 weeks ago I didn't think I could learn to enjoy public speaking, but yesterday I prooved myself wrong! Thanks to the Erasmus Public Speaking Academy I got the skills and the confidence to give a TEDx-talk for a big audience.

Do you feel nervous when speaking in front of a larger group? Master the basic tools, tactics and mindset for conquering the stage.

Fear of public speaking is responsible for a 15% cut in one's chances to be promoted to a management level. The ability to speak in front of people and deliver a clear message is a crucial skill for a successful career, whether academic or otherwise.

Our team of trainers consist of experienced public speakers and teachers. Each group will have a dedicated trainer that will lead you throughout the whole program.

Bianca Banica

Her passion for training and helping people achieve their goals ignited in high school. Ever since, she has taken every opportunity to help people develop in some way, be it personal or professional. Bianca has been a trainer at LifeVersity for a year and has taught the Professional Development course at EUR. tHer mission is to help you explore and exploit the opportunities uncovered by the online setting and find your own unique way of being productive as there is not really a ‘one way fits all’ approach.

Kudrat Paramjit

Is a MSc student at RSM. Public speaking has always been a source of excitement and uncertainty for her. Excitement because she loves being on stage and getting the audience engaged, uncertainty because of feeling nervous just before stepping on stage. Rather than shying away, she challenged herself with our EPSA and APS courses: not only she knows how to push herself out of her own comfort zone and address her own challenges, but also  knows the public speaking struggles a student might face. Her passion is helping people develop themselves and she can't wait to help you to let your voice being heard.

Jelmer Smits

As a former EUR student himself (MSc Global Business & Sustainability), Jelmer would like to give current students something he dearly missed himself during his studies: valuable & accessible lessons in presentation skills. Not only he has his own business in teaching presentation skills ( where he focuses on comfortable habits that drastically improve everyone’s presentation performances, but he has also taught two rounds of EPSA. This time around he'll be in charge of the Dutch version of the project.

Eloy Uwumarogie

Is an organizational psychologist with a big interest in teaching, personal development and training. This interest has led him to take on various teaching and training roles. Eloy has given several sales trainings for face to face salespeople and he is currently  working as a psychology tutor and trainer at EUR. Eloy is happy to branch out by providing soft skills training to students with all kinds of educational backgrounds and is taking over the first Dutch cohort of the Erasmus Public Speaking Academy.

Nastya Vinokur

Nastya is a bachelor student of IBA and IBCoM at EUR. But besides that, she is a very passionate person when it comes to public speaking. Previous experience which she got participating in the improvisation theatre and private tutoring instilled the love for both and working at LiveVersity allows developing those passions further and further. Nastya is eager to meet new students and assist them in becoming more confident public speakers by exchanging knowledge, engaging with each other, and having fun together in the first place.

Jeroen Lemsom

Currently pursues a master in Quantitative Finance. He desperately fell in love with public speaking when he started performing stand-up comedy. During his teaching assistantships for the ESE and ESPhil, Jeroen was able to exercise one of his favorite hobbies: motivating students by making the classes as entertaining as possible. This year he will help you to reach one of the most important goals of the class: to make public speaking entertaining, not only for the crowd, but also for yourself.

What you need to know

Participation in the course is free, however full participation will be required once you signed up and you are selected. (First session is mandatory).

You will see your trainer once a week, for 6 weeks. Besides the coaching session there is preparatory material that you will need to cover before hand.

We know that life happens. As long as you do not miss more than one training session and you deliver the final assignment, you will get one.

Small parts of some sessions might be recorded, or screenshots of the zoom calls might be taken for communication, education and/or marketing purposes.

Trainings are subject to change in format (online/offline) to adhere with the measures taken by the Dutch government and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Please note that this program is not a therapy session, and in case you experience severe public speaking anxiety, we recommend seeking the support of a certified psychologist.

*Applications work on a first-come, first-serve basis; however, time slots will only open if a minimum of 8 students enroll.

You can know more on how we manage your data on our policy page.

Ready to get started?

This time around, applications will be first come first serve*. Don't sleep on it and sign up as soon as possible! Once the spots are gone, they're gone.
