Have you ever given a presentation and felt like you were speaking to a room full of zombies? The truth is, your audience is not the problem. The problem is that you're not using one of the most powerful tools in your public speaking arsenal: storytelling.
In this masterclass, we'll teach you how to harness the power of storytelling to create emotional connections with your audience, deliver strong messages that leave a lasting impact, and stand out in your academic and professional pursuits.
In this 4-session masterclass, you will learn to identify the elements of a successful story, understand why storytelling is important, apply appropriate story formats for a given goal or situation, and craft your own compelling story to be performed in front of an audience.
In this session, we will explore the importance of storytelling. Understand how you can create compelling narratives that captivate your audience. In addition, we will also learn how to apply short stories in various aspects of our daily lives, such as in our relationships, at work, or in our communities.
We will cover principles and elements of compelling storytelling, including plot and structure. Additionally, we will learn how to add interest by using humor and suspense in our stories. We will also discuss the importance of developing the setting, which can help create an immersive experience for our audience.
We will focus on delivery, which includes body language and vocal techniques to maximise storytelling. We will also explore the use of sensory details in our descriptions, which can add depth and richness.
You will have the opportunity to perform live storytelling in front of an audience at our EURx Talks. It is time to tell your 5 minute captivating story to our audience and apply the skills you have learned.
